My name is Marge Leitner and I live in South Africa. I have started a project to instill a love for letter writing in our youth.
With that, I am wanting to encourage young people from all over the world to please write to me if they are interested in having a penpal here in South Africa.
The children of the Loerie Youth Centre, which is situated in Bronkhorstspruit, are in the age group of 6 years to 14 years. The House Mother is Betsie, who looks after them.

This project has the blessing of the House Mother, Betsie, who will actively encourage the participation of all the kids at the Centre.

Boere sport day which was organised by the MWU Solidariteit for the children and was held at Balmoral.
Herewith some photos of the 'day in the sun' with the children from the Loerie Youth Centre.
These are all children who come from abused backgrounds. The MWU-solidarity Helping Hand Trust Fund supports these children every month.
Last Saturday, 14th September, 2002, they went with us to a farm about three hours from Johannesburg.

The first picture is of two of the kids who went on horseback. This was part of the day's events. They loved every minute of it. Its every child's dream to be on the back of a horse and ride into the sunset!!
So much adventure and so much laughter. All of this is mainly due to the kindness of all those who contributed to the Helping Hand Trust Fund, which enables the MWU-Solidarity to arrange this fun filled day.
There was laughter, to chase away the tears, there was wonder instead of pain and there was sunshine to chase away the shadows.
To all those who contributed to the fund and helped to make this day possible, many many thanks, on behalf of all of us, and tons of hugs.
